I understand commercialism with regard to Christmas.  Really, I do.  It’s the last minute end-of-the-year blitz to make a profit.  The more, the merrier, right?  I can even grasp the logic behind shopping early.

Folks, it’s ONE FLIPPING DAY out of the year.  Yet, the yuletide blitz starts in October.  Forget Halloween, heck, Thanksgiving doesn’t even seem to merit putting up decorations anymore.

Thanksgiving is Christmas without the commercial blitz and with a turkey instead of a goose.  Personally, I’d prefer a turkey to a goose(geese are viscous animals) and I can give presents to someone anytime I want to show how much I appreciate them.

A whole three months of overcommercialized hype and buildup really kills the value of the holiday.  Scrooge had it easy.
